Victor Demidov

Victor Demidov started his professional singing career
with the Philharmonic Society of Kislovodsk, a popular spa in the North
Caucasus. He studied voice at the Gnessins Academy of Music, Moscow, where
he debuted when a student as Germont (La Traviata) and Marcello (La
Boheme). On graduation, he signed a contract with the Omsk Opera where he
successfully appeared in about twenty major roles in opera and operetta
productions.
In 1989, the singer joined the Saratov Opera & Ballet where he has
since been engaged as leading baritone in a considerable number of
productions.
Among the parts favouring the singer, are Onegin (Eugene Onegin),
Prince Yeletski (The Queen of Spades), Robert (Iolanta), Demon
(Demon by Rubinstein), Shaklovity (Khovanschina by Moussorgsky),
Conte di Luna (Il Trovatore), Germont (La Traviata), Marcello (La
Boheme), Conte Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Figaro (Il Barbiere),
Rigoletto, Wolfram von Eschenbach (Tannhauser), Scarpia (Tosca). Mr.
Demidov has appeared with such prominent operatic personalities as
singers Irina Arkhipova, Vladislav Piavko, Alexandre Vedernikov,
Maria Bieshu, conductors Roman Matsov, Fuat Mansurov. Victor's
chamber repertoire embraces a wide choice of both Russian and
European songs (Glinka, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Weber, Schumann,
Schubert, R. Strauss, Poulenc, Gershwin, etc). His fluent English and
good accents in German and Italian are valuable supplements to his
musicality and style. Since 1994, Victor Demidov has been associate
professor at the Voice Faculty of the Saratov Conservatoire of Music.
His ex-students are collaborating with opera companies countrywide
and overseas, some of them have successfully competed in the
world's important voice contests Belvedere Vienna inclusive. |
