Colburn Children's Choir
|
The Colburn School Children's Vocal Ensembles are
auditioning new singers for the 2007-2008 school year. Call the Colburn

Colburn Children's Choir
Age: 8-18 years
Rehearsals: Saturdays, 1:30PM-4:30PM plus scheduled Friday sectionals
Audition and interview: Required
The Colburn Children's Choir is a highly specialized ensemble of young
musicians who have the necessary desire, discipline, concentration and
dedication to fulfill the rigorous demands of performing. Special
attention is given to the proper use of the voice, stylistic nuances in
repertoire, blend and performance decorum. Students also gain experience
in children's opera. In addition to one three-hour meeting per week, the
students attend a sectional and individual rehearsal approximately once
every three weeks on a pre-scheduled basis. Extra pre-concert rehearsals
are required. The choir presents public performances throughout the year.
Children's Opera Workshop
Age: 9-16 years
Rehearsals: Saturdays, 10:00AM-11:20AM
Audition and interview: Required
Students in the Children's Opera Workshop gain beginning experience in
musical drama through children's opera. Students learn appropriate mini
operas, vocal improvisation to familiar stories, and study children?s
choruses from the standard opera repertoire. Students also are exposed to
simple set design and construction. In the spring semester, students
present a one-act opera in public performance.
Young People's Chorus
Age: 6-12 years
Rehearsals: Saturdays, 11:30AM-12:50AM
The Young People's Chorus provides beginning vocal experience for which
the only requirements are a love of singing and the ability to work
cooperatively with others. Students will learn healthy singing techniques
and choral singing concepts. Beginning sight singing and musicianship are
included in this training. Students in this group are encouraged to enroll
in Children's Opera Workshop as well.
Pre-Teen Singers
Age: 5-10 years
Rehearsals: Saturdays, 9:00AM-9:50AM
This vocal ensemble provides a beginning musical experience specifically
for the pre-teen age group.
