in his book 'the four voices of man', jerome hines discusses melocchi quite a bit. he speaks of the four voices as four different ideas of placement; in the mask, down the throat, in the dome of the hard palette and no placement at all. he associates 'no placement' with melocchi, calling it the 'laryngeal method'. as goofy as mr. hines books are at times, they can be surprisingly useful and are always entertaining.
