As a harpsichordist, I think this sounds more like basso continuo, or
figured bass, if you will. It is sometimes (not too much here in Canada)
known as Through bass as well. Through composed melody - or durchkomponiert
(i'm sure i spelled it wrong!) is something else entirely! How confusing!!
