Hi:
Finale is certainly one of the best music writing
programs around but it is very costly. If you can
get it from someone who teaches in a school system
it tends to be cheaper.
The manual has 7 or 8 tutorials but is quite easy to
follow...there's just lots of stuff to learn. It's not something
you can just pop into your computer and write out the
scores. So far, I find that I can still write them out faster
by hand cuz I don't spend enough time on Finale on a
regular basis to remember all the little details and have
to keep going back to check things in the manual.
My summer project is to get really good at Finale.
One point though: You can enter music manually with
your point and click method or you can hook up to
a midi keyboard and play the music which is actually
faster.
Good luck,
Hope this helps
Jacqueline
