I have recently read Lili Lehman's book on singing and am reading the book great singers on great singing. Both singers say two kind of confusing things. Lehman says that as you sing high notes, the tip of your tounges stays anchored below the bottom teeth, while the back of the tounge goes up. Horne says that you have to keep the tounge down, forming a furrow in it from tip to back, this seems to encourage tension.....
I have found that when I sing the tip of my tounge is anchored in the gum line, but when I get high the middle to back part of my tounge goes up with the high note. It does not feel tense and the high note feels free. I guess I'm just confused as to why Ms. Horne, whom I consider a techical master would suggest you have to keep the whole tounge down to the point of it being grooved.......Maybe I misunderstood her..........
Would love feedback on this........
