Hello Fellow Vocalists: Although I am normally the resident lurker, I felt compelled to post on this topic. It is an absolute travesty to think that Britney Spears could win best pop vocal performance. I mean sometimes I think to myself, why am I studying singing and working with Seth Riggs and SLS technique spending so much of my money and time working on my voice and technique when I could just rap and scream like Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit or Eminem (Yuck!). But then I remember. I have so much more integrity than that. I could not live with myself cheating people like that knowing what I am actually capable of. I mean why is it that Britney Spears may have a Grammy for her pitch defected weak excuse for a voice when singers like James LaBrie of Dream Theater, Geoff Tate of Queensryche, Ray Alder of Fates Warning, and the list goes on will NEVER even be nominated much less win. Because it's about record sales and popularity NOT talent and ability. That's the hard, brutal truth I have had to face and my fellow musicians. I mean the guys in my band all attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. The keyboardist and guitarist majored in Film Scoring and Composition. They can compose symphonies for God's sake! My drummer majored in drum/percussion and he is unparalleled in his abilities to comprehend odd time meters and polyrhythms. I, myself, study in the SLS technique and have come a long way and have managed to connect my nearly 4 octave range of lyric tenor voice from bottom to top. We all sing and are working on our next song which has a four part a capella choral part in the middle of the song which we have been rehearsing endlessly, but we will have a much more difficult time climbing up the ladder of success presumably than some baggy pants wearing blonde kid screaming about vileness. Oh well...There is hope though I believe. Consider that my band, Infinity Minus One, has been #1 on the Progressive Metal Charts on MP3.com with our song "At the Doorway of Existence" for 1 1/2 weeks straight and #1 in the Progressive Rock Charts for a full week also on MP3.com with our other song "Face to Face" and there is hope. That I why the "Big 5" major labels hate the Internet. Because it levels the playing field too much for their tastes. Oh no, I think I have rambled on for much too long. Thank you for reading. :) Yours In Music, Denis J. Lanza Lead Vocalist - Infinity Minus One http://www.mp3.com/infinityminusone http://www.infinityminusone.com

Hi all,
I'm back... Happy New Year to everyone.
When Britney Spears gets a nomination for best pop vocal performance at the Grammys I don't understand the world anymore.... not to talk about Macy Gray.
