My wife just bought the CD the other day so that my son (almost 8) could hear a boy sing in that register. My son seems to think that the unchanged voice is not normal for males, but he is getting over his shyness of singing in front of his family. One step at a time, huh? I am not a big fan of country (in fact, it is one of the types I rarely listen to), but whatever will make him comfortable with his own voice. As someone who absolutely abhors Charlotte Church (voice too manufactured) and Andrea Bocelli (voice too crooned for opera), I find myself pleasantly surprised upon hearing the 12-year-old Billy Gilman who is currently on the country charts. Now that is natural singing, and such a beautiful vocal registration, going through his soprano passaggio effortlessly! Have any of you had a chance to here him?
