The music for FLOYD COLLINS has not (yet) been published commercially.
The rights to the show are handled by the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization, so I strongly suspect that though it's not listed on the database of Williamson Music (R&H's publishing company), it is in fact published by them - or at least can be obtained through them. Your best bet may be to see if you can get a copy of the piano/vocal score for the theatrical production "on speculation" for 10 or 30 days. I know Samuel French and Schirmer both have these kinds of "loan" arrangements for unpublished scores in their catalogues. Don't know if the R&H Organization does the same. Also, you'd obviously need to obtain permission to photocopy the one song from the score, and also permission to perform it (it *is* ASCAP-represented, which means you need only pay the small ASCAP fee - for a free recital in a small venue, < $20 will cover royalties for all ASCAP songs you perform - go to www.ascap.com for details).
I suggest you contact Williamson Music: http://www.rnh.com/williamson/index.html
Hal Leonard is Williamson's distributor, but the only thing in Leonard's catalogue by Adam Guettel is his song cycle Myths and Hymns.
Your alternative would be to contact Adam Guettel directly (I've done this with some musical theatre composers whose works aren't commercially published, and they've always been very helpful and happy to send me copies of the songs I want to perform, without any request for a royalty - often copies of their hand-written manuscripts. Anyway, if the R&H Organization doesn't pan out for you, let me know - I have a friend in New York who I'm sure knows how to contact Mr. Guettel directly, and I'd be happy to put you in touch with her.
