Hello,
I am also new to the group, and thought that I would take this opportunity to introduce myself. I have read several of the messages people have been posting to this group recently, and I think that they are very interesting and informative.
I am 23, and have been taking voice lessons for 7 years. I've studied opera as well as worked on a lot of show tunes. I'm a soprano. I would like to sing professionally someday, but need further training before I will feel ready to take that step. I just moved to southern California recently, and am looking for someone to study with here. However, I am already a professional actor, and have been doing this for eight years. I am blind, and so my work with musical theater is somewhat limited. This is not because I don't feel like I am not capable of doing the work, but because of the limitations others place on me. I am a voice-over actor, and I love the work. My ambition is to be a part of one of those animated movie musicals one of these days. That way I can concentrate on the things that really matter to me instead of working on staging, and gestures and the like. However, what got me into acting as well as singing was my love of musical theater, and I did participate in several community theater productions. I had a part in Jesus Christ superstar and Fiddler On The Roof as well. I am happy to see that someone else is new to this group as well.
My apologies for the long winded post.
Best, Dionne
