I know CS lists tons of auditions/competitions,etc....and that you have to pay $ to access all this on the website, as well. At around $50..lol..that's pricey for a student! is this a worthwhile ding on my credit card balance, especially if I moving to the east coast in September? thanks all!

Of course, only you can determine if it's worth it to you. Re the comment on student price - I didn't see any reference to such at the web site <http://www.classicalsinger.com/>.
The ability to read copies at the library or via a voice teacher - you should note that many audition and competition listings appear only on the web site, which requires that one be a subscriber. And subscribers do NOT have to pay extra to access the competition/audition listings and other services at the web site - that comes WITH the paid subscription.
I am acquainted with the singer who founded and runs this publication, and this is a labor of love for her and her family, and the cost is as low as they can have it be and not lose money.
Karen mentioned that much information is available on-line, etc., at opera company web sites. However, much information in the publication is not available this way. And the consumer should consider that time is money, and ask whether the need for the information is such that $52 a year (around $5 an issue) is worth it.
I suggest that you consider what you already spend $5 or more on. Makeup? Mcdonald's? A bottle of wine? A movie? A video rental? A CD? And decide whether spending a similar amount on an issue of Classical Singer magazine is worth it for you.
I think if I were a talented college student studying for an advanced degree, seriously pursuing a career as a classical singer, I'd spend the money on the magazine and save the $52 somewhere else.
