What kind of vocal music does your Dad like? Are you
looking for a number of songs or only one solo?

You might consider songs with approriate themes such as
time, or memories, or having time on one's hands to do
things, travel, hobbies, or happiness, or time for
love...

You could consider putting together a collage of
"appropriate" lines from different songs, ie, Memories,
like the corners of my mind, misty watercolored memories
of the way we were; memory--all alone in the moonlight;
these are a few of my favorite things; I want to wake up
in a city that doesn't sleep.

Think about the things he likes, the occasion--does it
call for a good sense of humor? Is it more "formal"?
Will there be a significant other there (your mother?)
for whom a love song might be appropriate?

My mind is drawing a blank right now on specific
title (I'm at work), but these might be a couple of
ideas to consider.
