Jill Rogoff is a folk singer from Jerusalem who will be performing at the Washington Theological Union (WTU) in Silver Spring on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 7pm. Admission is $12 for nonmembers of the sponsoring organizations, WTU and the Folk Music Society; $8 for members, seniors, and students.
Jill sings folk songs from the British Isles and Sephardic songs. One of her CDs, entitled Celtic Cradle, won an award from NAPPA, a parents' organization, for the warmth and expressiveness of her singing and its appropriateness to children. Jill also performs on Jerusalem radio and TV, writes songs, and researches the works of women composers. Perhaps her greatest joy is being the mother of a young daughter.
Jill is a friend of mine from music workshops. It's difficult to find words to describe her performances--it's as if every cell of her body exudes music in the most gentle, charismatic manner.
So if you'd like to experience some relaxation after a hectic weekend, here's the place to do it! And bring your kids, or somebody else's!
Please let me know if you need directions to the WTU.
