the signal from the vocal folds, alone (according to bunch), is no better than a brooklyn salute. so, it is effect of the resonator (vocal tract) that makes the difference. in the analysis provided dre pointed out additional 'noise' in otter's voice and seemed to indicate that the clarity in karneus voice came from allowing less, not more, than otter does. if karneus were to exhibit something unusual, attributable to an unusual larynx, there would have to be evidence of something unusual in the spectral account and/or the sound. in fact, in all the evidence provided, nothing unorthodox is present. so, dre is pointing to her skill with the orthodox as being evidence of unusual vocal folds where, the skill could just as easily be attributable to great skill (assuming, for the sake of argument, that what she does is exceptional).
additionally, concerning asymmetrical length in the vocal folds, as the crico-thyroids affect a tilt on the thyroid cartilage, the shorter of the two vocal folds would be stretched sooner causing the folds to produce two different pitches, not a rainbow of spectral ecstasy.
