I just remembered some other really wonderful songs...
There are 3 (I believe) books of songs by Ricky Ian Gordon. There's a wonderful lullaby (sort of) in one of them called "Stars" which is absolutely gorgeous, as well as lots of other great songs as well.
There's also a very nice songbook of music by Theodore Chanler you might want to check out. It includes a couple (or 4) cycles called "The Children", "Four Rhymes From Peacock Pie", "Three Epitaphs", and "Three Months and a Rabbit".
In addition, there's a book called "The Faces of Love, the songs of Jake Heggie". The book I have (book 2) is billed as being for mezzo-soprano & piano (I got it for a specific piece even though I'm not a mezzo). It includes a 2-song cycle I think is really fun called "Of Gods and Cats", as well as a couple of other cycles entitled "Paper Wings" and "Songs to the Moon" which features in Part 1, "Fairy-Tales for the Children" (this is the one I got the book for in the first place).
Good luck! There's some really great English songs out there. It's going to be hard to choose I'm sure!
