nande,
singing for a passion and singing for a living are two different things. even if you are 'reorganized' out of your current job, because of your qualifications and time invested, you are far more likely to find a similar job in your field than you are to find jobs in singing.
why does your teacher think you need to go to school full-time? what skills are you missing so badly that only full-time schooling will provide? (does your teacher teach at the school he/she is recommending?) how many singers in your area are singing full-time and making even a bad living out of it?
obviously, i think you are better off if you can do something else for a living leaving you free to do music without the non-musical pressures of having to make a living at it. i have also seen enough singers who didn't get music degrees do very well at getting themselves plenty of gigs. and, i have also seen tons of singers who got a degree in voice who are now not doing music at all. whatever you decide, best of luck.
