Adding to the confusion about the term "classical" is the usage of describing something as "a classic", meaning the thing has enduring and widespread appeal (a "classic car," for example). Perhaps this is the root of Dean's student's approach to the term. "The Wind Beneath My Wings" doesn't exactly have "classic" quality to me, and certainly not in the sense that the Malotte "Lord's Prayer" does, but perhaps to a 10-year-old....
