I have perfect pitch as well. I'm not exactly sure if it was innate or something learnt, but I have a strong feeling it is something more inborn. Also, my whole musical life I've learnt from a FIXED 'Do'. For nearly 10 years all I sung and learnt was fixed Do, then later tried movable do. I can do movable do, but find it more difficult than fixed. When I transcribe a song, I always use fixed Do, it's just something I've grown up with I guess. So why fixed do? The most important reason, looking back, is that now, if I hear a note, I know it immediately. I think it's the sound perhaps that I've associated with the sol-fa, I'm not sure. If I was taught movable Do from the beginning, I believe I would only have relative pitch, because the tonic is changed for every key and that strong association is not there at all.
