renee, the quickest way i can think of for you to learn one way of singing jazz is to play with yawning and sighing. a lot of jazz singers, mel torme, harry connick jr., chet baker, dianna krall all sound like they are singing a sigh. where you will need the yawn, is in your break area (if you have one). there is a singer from south america who has a cd you may want to get, her name is gabriela anders. she would be a good example of the things i'm talking about and, as she is young, she may be someone to mimic as a head start. i'm sure tower records in boston would have her cd if you can't get it in nh.
