Dear Jenie:

When we suggest that someone with a question check the archives, it doesn't mean we're asking that you stop learning. The archives will have the whole thread of our conversations on topics such as range or Andrea Bocelli or Mariah Carey or Charolotte Church. For instance, in the "normal" range
question, someone asked what our range was and most of us replied - for weeks! That was pretty recent and noone wants to see that all over again when we can just say, it's in the archives. Same goes for our Mariah Carey/ Whitney Houston opinions - it's all in there and pretty recent. I beleive
someone even cited recorded examples that demonstrated Mariah Carey's extreme range, although not 7 octaves.

Why not begin by searching the archives and then, if you have more questions on the same topic or a comment on the archive material, come back and post to the list?

Whatever you decide - welcome to the newer members!

Laura

Sorry to participate in what you call redundancy, but please realize not
all of us were here that long ago and have new things to say on the topic.
And perhaps those who were have new insights as well. I don't think a
topic which concerns us as musicians should ever be 'shelved'. Please,
don't get me wrong, I think it can be overdone, but don't count it out
just cause you might have covered it before. We are never done learning.
