Good seats (not the best, but second best) for a hockey game in Los Angeles cost 70.00, the cheap seats 15$. A pop concert in a good venue can range from 25-100. The thing that irks me about classical concerts (not necessarily opera) is that concert prices do not remain consistent for the venue, but change for the performer. For instance, when Pavarotti comes to town, the best seats are 300.00. The next night at the same venue, the same seat will sell for $75 dollars for a different performer. That's likely where the opinions come from that classical concerts are expensive. If the regular ticket sales for a pop group were being sold at $300 at the high end - not from a scalper, mind you, but from the venue, pop fans would be up in arms.
