Subject:  belt singing

Has anyone got any comment to make about the fact that belted singing makes
everybody sound like everybody else and that the possible phrasing of a
musical line is reduced to one option? A rising phrase always goes to a
louder sound and never tapers because the method of singing used is so
unvarying and inflexible that the singer would fall off the voice if they
did it. How can this be glorified into a whole style when it is essentially
a reduction of style?

Just my rant for today

Sally
