Can we really blame her teachers with complete certainty? Is it not possible that this talented and driven young lady is terribly frightened or resistant to changing what she is receiving such accolades and success from? I have certainly taught at least two girls who were similarly resistant, even hostile, what I worked with them on body tension because they were afraid of the "lack of control" they felt they experienced when we removed the tension.
I would hate to have been in so public a spotlight when I was teaching my two recalcitrant sopranos as Charlotte's teachers are/have been with her. And I can sympathize with their reluctance to pass her on to someone else because there must be a particular excitment about having the opportunity to help one whose progress is so acutely watched and critiqued.
I do agree wholeheartedly that if in two years no one has been able to make a dent in her jaw, then this teacher/student relationship is not as successful as it should be. Perhaps this student needs someone who she idolizes and whose word she trusts enough to feel safe letting go of the tension and allowing her natural support to take over. Or, perhaps a little hiatus, so when she's working on it, it won't be so upsetting to let go of her jaw control and be afraid of singing differently in public than the way people have heard her and admired her for.
Best to all,
Laura Sharp

On an English documentary, her teacher was interviewed, and there was Charlotte having a lesson, and yes, you've guessed it, the jaw was wobbling away. I find it absolutely extraordinary that this teacher, and her subsequent one with Sony has done nothing about it. And, to say don't worry! >>
