Hi Anne:
I had been told that many teachers
don't want young kids doing technique
incorrectly and before their bodies have
had a chance to develop.
Obviously, since I teach 10 year olds and
up, I don't totally agree with that.
I believe the technical approach to singing
should be different with kids than with
adults but the basic principles are the
same. Clear diction, good breathing and
breath management, iradication of bad
habits like chin wobbles or tight chest
singing up into the mask, etc.
Some people just don't have the extra
patience to teach the young ones.
