Dear co vocalisters,
I would like to correct this a little: I don't suffer from a Don Giovanni complex: I am a serial monogamist, and can be very faithful to a woman I really love. But experience from the time between relationships has shown me, that although there is a certain kind of women, I could call my type, I have fallen in love with women that looked quite different. That does certainly not mean I love all women equally, no matter how they look etc.
But there is more to it that shere weight: it is also something like a certain harmony in a body, even more the way the face looks, and the feeling that somebody does care about the way she looks (as I do as well: my former employer used to buy all kinds of cookies for his employees: I stopped eating them, because I saw I was gaining weight.)
Let's give one well known example: when Cecila Bartoli started to become famous, she was a thin (not skinny) nice looking young girl. Since then she has gained a lot of weight, I think about 40 pounds. In a video interview I have from her (very nice, you can see and hear her practising with her mama) she says: 'I do have an almost sexual relation to food'. She also has a very boring boyfriend. I think she should make some changes there...
If La Bartoli does not do that, it will be too late to make those changes and she will look within ten years like Jessye Norman, who - even when she was vocally at her top - could not sing opera roles because of her obesity, at least that is what I've heard.
Dré de Man is warning Cecilia Bartoli for the last time!
Best greetings,
Dré
