Subject:  adduction questions

according to meribeth bunch (page 64 of 'dynamics of the singing voice',
3rd ed.),
the lateral crico-arytenoid muscles cause adduction of the vocal folds. her
illustrations clearly indicate how these muscles are connected to the cricoid
cartilege. what they don't show is how the muscles are connected to the
arytenoid cartilege. (i can only picture them being connected, up from
under, to the inside of the arytenoid cartileges if they are to cause
adduction.) how does the contraction of these muscles move the arytenoid
cartileges and how does that movement cause adduction? also, how is
adduction distinct from closing of the glottis, which miller attributes to
the action of the transverse arytenoid muscles?
