I think there are several. I have a Hippocrene Dictionary that I got
for $5 at "Half-Price Books" in Dallas. FWIW, I would always "guess"
open rather that closed. That way, you can use the excuse of
modification if you're wrong!

BTW, even Italians disagree. And they aren't perfect with other
vowels, either. Everyone will tell you: "There's no [I] vowel in
Italian, only [i]." Listen closely to Pavarotti or Bartoli, for
example. [I]'s all over the place!
