Wow - that's an almost impossible question to answer - there are so many. I'm sitting here listening to the Requiem while I read my e-mail. The New York Times yesterday had an article in which several music critics were asked to list their favorite Verdi recordings. I'll see if I can find it and copy it into an e-mail. It was an interesting list, although I know NOBODY will agree with each person's listing. I hope this article hasn't been posted already. I came home last night after being gone for three days and had over 1000 e-mails, so I deleted a bunch and may have missed this if it was posted. If so, I apologize for the repetition.

What a great opportunity to celebrate the music of Giuseppe Verdi, who died one hundred years ago. I have been listening to some of my favorite Verdi performances this week (ye Taylor, I have worn out Simionato singing "O don fatale" - does anyone match that in voice and style? ;p). I feel so lucky to be part of a community who has access to the music of this great musical mind. What are your favorite Verdi moments? For me, my favorite Verdi will always be the Philip-Grand Inquisitor scene from Don Carlo, with the Trovatore Leonora music a close second. Let's celebrate!
