thanks for your reply. the concept of vowel modulation is not new to
me (i am not above distorting the hell out of something just to make it
easier). but, i think you've hit the nail on the thumb with the statement
above. 'ev'ry valley' is easier for me than 'comfort ye'. it is hard for
me to keep the notion of continuing to produce sound in the slower music and
i find myself trying to 'hold' the notes rather than to sustain them (even
though i know it is stupid to try to hold sound).

perhaps i should stick to the fast stuff for a while as a transition
from vocalizing to singing until i'm sure my voice isn't going to blow up
just because i'm singing higher than F#4. thanks ian.
