Congratulations on being accepted intoAPU! I am sure others will chime in, but if I could have told my incoming freshmen what to have done better, I would have told them to have studied their music theory and sight reading more. That particular lack of knowledge will slow you down more than anything, I think. As far as singing knowledge, sometimes teachers would rather you not know a lot, so they can teach you "their" way. Sometimes preconceived notions of how the voice is supposed to work can slow progress with a teacher.
