I've been reading with interest all the posts regarding positive affirmations and it reminded me of something. Quite a few years ago I sang for some competition in Baltimoreand I was so nervous about it I went to a hypnotist so I wouldn't be nervous. Well, the day came, no nerves, totally calm and the most boring and lifeless performance of "Steal Me, Sweet Thief" in music history. The next day my nervousness hit and my knees began to shake. I had forgotten to have the hypnotherapist give the right positive suggestion, like having energy, etc. I never did that again. Fortunately, a big singing career was not what I was after, I just wanted to be able to teach, and work at home, since I was (am still) a single mother. Also, do men tend to be more skeptical of the whole positive affirmation thing than do women.(I know I sound sexist but give me a break, I was born in the 40's some things die hard ;).....
