thanks to whomever it was who brought up eileen farrell as a crossover
singer. there is a little something weird about her singing 'old fashioned'
but, it is weird in the way eartha kitt was weird not in an 'opera singer
singing something she shouldn't' weird. there is also something about her
singing this music that sometimes sounds a little like judy garland (the drug
years- a compliment, believe it or not). anyone else ever notice this?

if you want to hear an interesting crossover, try rene kollo singing
'pretty woman' in german. it's a little like roy orbison meets 'sprockets'.
it is very strange, and again not in an opera singerish way. it's weird
like something out of a fassbinder movie.
