What a WONDERFUL story, Dale! How lucky you were to be a part of such a magical moment. I bet that little girl never forgets this Christmas.

Well I have a very personal "Real Santa Claus" story myself. It isn't as good as yours, but every bit as meaningful to me, because it happened to me.
I was once again this year a Shopping Mall Santa, having my picture taken with the children (and adults) and asking the kids what they wanted Santa to bring them for Christmas.
A couple of weeks ago a woman came up to me after I had seen her little girl and asked if I would do something for her. I said yes, what was it. She told me that her little girl was getting a puppy for Christmas, but that they couldn't wait til Christmas to give it to her, and if she came back with the puppy, would I give it to her. I immediatly said yes. No one had ever asked me to give anything to anyone as Santa before.
A couple of hours later I spotted the woman on the other side of the Santa setup with a small animal carrier, making her way through the crowds. I looked to my right and saw the little girl and her father in lineup again, maybe 5 minutes away from seeing me. I saw the woman give the carrier to one of my helpers and she stashed it to the other side of the display.
Just before the little girl came back up with her father I turned my back on them, my helper put the puppy in my arms and I turned back to that little girl with the puppy and said, "I hear you want a puppy for Christmas".
You should have seen the look on that little girls face. It was love at first sight. Mom and Dad sat next to me on either side, the little girl on one knee and the puppy on the other and we had some more pictures. I was in tears for most of it and when they left I had to ask the photographer for a minute while I composed myself so I could go on.
That one little request is the most special thing I have ever been asked to do. I know it doesn't seem like much, but I now know how Santa must feel every Christmas Eve making his rounds around the world leaving a little something here and there for the children of the world.
No real Santa? Who says so. Not I. I too now feel that I am one of his helpers.
