Dear Diane, It's a singing competition based on Welsh origins. Defined in the Oxford dictionary as a 'Congress of Welsh Bards'. The plural is eisteddfodeau but I wouldn't dream of using it! A national or local gathering for musical competitons. Regards Reg.
