i'm not an opera hater, i've simply become disillusioned by it. in
singing other types of music, i have found freedom of expression where, in
opera, i just found too many 'one does not do this' and 'one does not do
thats' to be happy. though, i can still appreciate opera as a novelty and,
in fairness, there are some operas i do really love. and there are singers
i really love too- siepi, london, freni, stratas to name a few. i also love
corelli and pyavko (the corelli of russia). so, yes, in a sense i have
become a devil's advocate.
