Randy,

Just a figure of speech I assure you!! What I should
have said was that Cleo sings in a very low, smokey
almost clapped out way, and then bingo, she hits a
clear as a whistle stratospheric one!! I don't, for
one minute assume she sings badly, it's just her
individual timbre. One of the reasons I find her very
interesting.

To Karen et al, one of the nice things of course about
any kind of artist, is that not everybody has empathy
with them. I, although I understand the debt a number
of singers owe to her, wouldn't care less
(particularly) if I never heard Maria Callas again,
but that's just my taste!! Thank goodness we all like
different things, that's all I can say!!!

I've enjoyed Cleo for many years. Sometimes she sings
like a pig, but as was rightly pointed out, that comes
under the umbrella of song stylist!!! However, she has
that ineffable measure, that the moment she steps onto
a stage, your pulse quickens and you start smiling. I
suppose what is known as star quality!!

Best to all.

Ian Voice wrecker to the stars!
