A friend of mine who teaches has also had the same experience with
half-witted choir directors. They had impugned her studio saying to more
than one student "Your voice will be ruined" because they were not making
the sound the choir director believed to be best. These choir directors
were grievously misinformed. This amounts to an attack on a skilled
professional's integrity and income. I would confront this person
immediately about what is coming back to you as the teacher and about his
own lack of technical proficiency in this respect. For the good of your
students and your studio face him off. He will back down if you show some
spine.
