Hi Marthea,

Yep, it was me who said about sticking the tongue out
as a vocal fold tester for starters.

Scatchiness is a hard one!!! It could be any manner of
things, but one thing I've found in general, is the
glands that supply mucous to the folds are slightly
disfunctional. Steam inhalation might rid the problem.
Or it could be the student is shoving too much air
throught the folds which drys them rapidly and causes
a scratchy sound.
