For the longest I have wanted to have a friend who could truly appreciate the
art of the countertenor & Baroque singing the way I do. Let's face it, this
type of singing isn't one of the most popular of things. I finally came to
the conclusion that I would probably never meet anyone in my immediate area
that had as deep a passion for this voice & this music. It then hit me that
I should try an experimental email list & see how it goes. Here
TheCountertenors will discuss our favorite singers (CT & other voice types),
share personal thoughts on different performances & different recordings. We
will also discuss the countertenor technique, other vocal techniques, Baroque
Performance Practice, & give each other pointers. You will also make friends
that you can possibly make trades with (scores, recordings, sheet music,
ect). We will share wav/mp3's &! ; pictures via the egroups file section, &
whatever else may come our way. Let's face it guys, know one can appreciate
this voice, & this type of music more than another countertenor! We will be
an elite tribe of modern day castrati (only fortunately we didn't have to
have that awful surgery)!!1 Our admirers & other Baroque singers are
encouraged to join as well.
