i always had the impression that the 'lip bubble' exercise was like playing low notes on the tuba with voice (and no tuba). that idea would use up so much air and place the resistance at the lips instead of the vocal folds. i couldn't imagine why this would ever be a good idea.
your description changes the picture entirely. would i be right in thinking that, when doing the 'lip bubble' exercise the right way (as opposed to the stupid way i had imagined), everyone, more or less, ends up sounding like bing crosby?
