An alternative would be "in the car" practice on the way to/from work (or in the parking lot at lunctime). While one's posture is not ideal when sitting in the car, I have found that there are a lot of exercises I can do while driving (or sitting parked) without straining. I also find the car is a great place to learn repertoire - working with an audio cassette on repetition repetition repetition.
