Boy--do I resonate with this post! [sorry about the pun]. How many times has it been when during the course of one of my sessions with Dr Marshall, when he says "That sounds great! How does it sound to you?" To which I respond with something very erudite like "Huh...?" Subsequently, Dr M changed to "That's very good. How do you _feel_?" to which I was equally obtuse. Finally, he began with "We're going to a series of vocalises...I want you to pay attention to the sensations in your mouth and posterior pharynx" [or some other part he's working on]. When I got one right he asked "Okay, tell me what did you feel?"
My guess is that there is no way to feel or one set of sensation descriptors when the tone is right that is "unversally true for everyone". We each have to find it and define it for ourselves while depending heavily on the ears of our coaches and teachers.
