While disconcerting to the young performer, I think this a "good" experience. Reinforce the idea that it's nothing personal towards the performer. Remember the judge is not there to be entertained, but to make critical judgments of performance. Theater and opera production companies stake hundreds of thousands even millions to produce a show. The folks sitting across those audition tables' job is to find the performers to risk that kind of money on. That's the reality of professional performers.
