Craig asked if Cathy Berberian had perfect pitch. She told me she did not,
but that she had an excellent sense of relative pitch. We talked about this
having a number of components:
- good measurement of melodic intervals
- a sense of the physical sensations of resonance for each pitch
- a general homing device that knows roughly where the note is,
relatively speaking!
