Hi Rocio,
Guaifenisin (Robitussin, Duratuss-G, Humibid) are "mucolytics", work to thin viscous mucous secretions, and should have no adverse effects on the vocal cords. Instead, I would expect that, by thinning secretions (with the help of plenty of hydration), these agents would ease the feeling of needing to clear one's throat, and thus help relieve cord stress.
