One of the most amazing things I've ever experienced was Norman Phillips'
speaking voice. When I went for my lessons, my ears would start ringing
while he spoke to me. His voice was so forward, even his speaking voice
had a singers formant! He is a Verdi baritone... needless to say, he
could sing over a big orchestra handsomely :-)
