dear lloyd,

thank you for your response. you have confirmed the thoughts i have
found myself thinking about singing- that singing can be an extension of
speech if the singer can negotiate the wider range and the distortion of word
length (or, generally taking longer to say a word while singing than while
speaking). my want is, that the voice one has always used to communicate
with, could be extended into singing without losing that personal history of
self expression. the singer, having negotiated these two factors, would
then just make their point about the material with 'expression' being a
by-product.
