odivatina,
hvorostovsky has a disk with a pianist named arkadiev called 'russia cast adrift'. the songs of the composer sviridov are beautiful. the singer is far more involved with this music as i think it suits his nature which, i think is something more modern than the repertoire we hear him in most often. comparing his performance on this disc to his other stuff reminds me of my impressions of hearing fischer-dieskau in britten's 'war requiem'. it was clear the latter artist was affected by his own wartime experience.
