| Every body is different. I took the pill for about 15 years non-stop, then went "natural" and off it. Big mistake. That was when the endometriosis was able to take solid hold and it was during that time I began taking voice lessons. The monthly cyclic changes were a royal pain, to say the least, and I was more than happy to begin taking the pill once again. It has smoothed everything out very nicely and while I still feel "foggy" (all over, not just my voice) the day before menstruation, life is far, far better now. Personally, I've noticed no bad differences in my voice because of the pill.
Everyone's body's react differently to different things right?
Well the pill doesn't make your body think it's pregnant, it just alters
slightly your hormonal makeup so that the egg can't implant itself on the
uterin wall.
A young woman off of the pill will experience more hormonal fluctuations
then a woman on the pill.
Ultimatly it's your choice, I'm not disagreeing or anything. I'm just
saying, that off of the pill you'll probably experience extended period
much like those already discussed about how your voice will totally change
from being able to sing beautifully lyric arias a la colouratura style to
not being able to do it and toss it away.
It seems ridiculous to me, and not to mention a little over neurotic to not
take the pill because you're worried about the side effects that will
occur. Trust me when I say the worst side effect will be the weight gain,
and the best side effect will be the consistancy that the pill will lend to
your voice.
I haven't lost any high notes, maybe some have, but I haven't lost one
delicious note in my range.
We must take good care of our vocal folds, however, we must remember not to
become slaves to our instruments.
For anyone not on the pill on this list who is planning a career in voice,
do not be frightened by what was said. The pill has a great deal of
benefits, and a great deal of side effects. Whatever method of birth
control you go for should be a very personal decision, the chances of your
voice turning into something unmanagable is HIGHLY unlikely.
I just wanted to dispell a myth.
