Actually, I like the 'broad brushstrokes' of operatic singing - it allows
me to be aware of all sorts of things that too much detail would obscure,
paradoxically, and also some singers (and orchestras) can somehow transcend
that limitation. As an artist I rather like limitations, within reason. john
